Why I wrote this story:
I was getting my then 3 year-old son into the bath when he turned to me and asked for a banana.
“A banana?” I said, “In the bath?”
He looked at me and said, matter-of-factly, “Yeah! A banana in the bath!”
That’s a great title, right? I thought so! I wrote the first draft while sitting on the toilet lid as my son happily munched on his banana. The repeated refrain quickly turned into a song we’d sing around the house, and 2 years later I recorded a sing-along it with my 2 oldest kids, my niece, and my nephew. You can listen to it HERE!
This board book (illustrated by the amazing Alexandra Elliot!) went on to win 2 Writely Awards. I had the pleasure of accepting these awards at the annual TOC Summit Conference in Tennessee.

Hello! My name is Andi Chitty, but the neighborhood kids call me Ms. Andi. I’ve been writing for children for 4 years, and I’m absolutely over the moon to announce my upcoming board book ROCK-A-BYE, FOREVER.
I adore singing to my children (The Pony Man, The Unicorn, and 10 Little Angels, to name a few of our favorites!), so it was only natural that I write my own version of “Rock-a-Bye, Baby” to sing to my own babies.
To this day, my daughter still bursts into tears as I sing my version to her. And when she cries, I cry! I hope this illustrated version of our beloved family song resonates with other parents and children, as well <3
